ICC rates Multan pitch for 1st Pakistan vs England Test as ‘satisfactory’


The International Cricket Council (ICC) has rated the pitch for the opening Test between Pakistan and England at the Multan Cricket Stadium as ‘satisfactory’. England won the match by an innings and 47 runs after piling up a massive score of 823 for seven (declared) on the board.

Harry Brook won the Player of the Match award after he made 317 runs from 322. Joe Root also tormented the Pakistani bowling attack with a 262-run knock. England bowled Pakistan out for 220 in 54.5 overs after Jack Leach picked up four wickets.

The ICC rated the pitch for the second Test as ‘average’. The used pitch from the opening Test was used in the second Test, where Pakistan made a comeback to draw level in the series. Pakistan won the Test by 152 runs. Pakistan won the third and final Test by nine wickets.

The pitch for the third and final Test at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium got a rating of ‘satisfactory’ from the ICC. Pakistan won the Test by nine wickets to win the series 2-1. Pakistan also secured a Test series win on home soil after three and a half years.

Sajid Khan and Noman Ali did not play in the opening Test. But once Pakistan brought in the spin duo from the second Test onwards, their fortunes turned around. The duo picked up 39 out of the 40 wickets that fell in the last two Test matches.

Shan Masood had lost the first six Tests as Pakistan’s captain, but redeemed himself with the series against England.
