BGT: Virat Kohli passed fit after injury scare ahead of Perth practice match

Star India batter Virat Kohli underwent scans for an injury ahead of team India’s match-simulation practice on Friday, November 15. Notably, team India is preparing at the WACA Ground in Perth for the upcoming five-match Test series against Australia set to begin from November 22.

Ahead of their match simulation practice in Perth, star batter Virat Kohli underwent scans for an injury. However, a source confirmed to India Today, that the star batter was declared fit and took part in the team’s practice session. The source further revealed that he looked alright while batting.

Despite his recent slump on form, Kohli is going to be extremely crucial for India in the upcoming Test series given his past exploits in Australia. The right-handed batter averages a staggering 54.08 in Australia having scored 1352 runs from 13 matches. The right-handed batter has scored six centuries and four half centuries in the country and was India’s highest run scorers on the 2011-12 and 2014-15 tours.

KL Rahul also suffers injury scare

Kohli’s best ever performance in a single series came against Australia during the 2014-15 tour where he plundered 692 runs from four matches at an average of 86.50 with four and registered four hundreds and one fifty. Hence, his form is going to be extremely crucial for the team in the upcoming series as India aim to seal the rubber in a dominating fashion to keep their chances of reaching World Test Championship (WTC) alive.

Meanwhile, apart from Kohli, KL Rahul also suffered an injury scare during the practice session. The 32-year-old, set to open alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the Perth Test, was hit on his right elbow during an intra-squad match simulation. When asked about KL Rahul’s injury, sources mentioned that he was hit by a ball recently. However, they reassured that he was doing well and there were no concerns regarding injuries within the Indian camp. With doubts on captain Rohit Sharma’s participation in the first Test, Rahul is likely to open the innings alongside Yashasvi Jaiswal in the first Test.
