Rohit Sharma’s captaincy heavily criticised as India surrender in Adelaide

Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma was heavily criticized on social media as the team was left reeling on Day 2 of the second Test against Australia at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide. India were on 128/5 at stumps with Rishabh Pant (28*) and Nitish Kumar Reddy (15*) at the crease trailing Australia by 29 runs.

Australia began the day on 86/1 trailing India by 94 runs in the first innings. However, Travis Head brought his team into a commanding position with his eighth Test century scoring a breathtaking 140 (141) smashing 17 fours and four sixes in his innings. Courtesy of his knock, Australia took a massive 157-run lead to pile on the pressure on India.

Following Head’s assault, fans began bashing Rohit on social media for his captaincy claiming that the India skipper failed to seize the opportunity at crucial stages with poor rotation of his bowlers. Notably, Rohit didn’t play in the first Test in Perth due to the birth of his child which India won by 295 runs under the leadership of Jasprit Bumrah.

While some section of fans felt that Rohit brought in Ashwin too late in the innings, some believed that he didn’t plan well to dismiss India’s tormenter-in-chief Travis Head.
