India pacer Tushar Deshpande took to his official Instagram account to share that he underwent a successful ankle surgery in London and is now eager to make a strong comeback. Deshpande, who had impressed significantly with his bowling for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL), missed the second round of the recently concluded Duleep Trophy due to his injury.
Deshpande’s standout performance in IPL 2024 earned him his maiden India call-up during the T20I series against Zimbabwe in July earlier this year. However, the injury led to him being excluded from Mumbai’s 30-man probable list for the upcoming Ranji Trophy season. In his Instagram post, Deshpande shared that the surgery went well and expressed relief after dealing with the injury for a long time.
“This post comes as an update about my ankle surgery which was done yesterday and went very well. It is a great relief as I was dealing with it for quite a long time. I am very grateful to my family, friends and all my fans for the well wishes, love and trust they have shown towards me. Here on, I start my journey to recover better than before and comeback stronger,” Deshpande’s post read.
During the 2023-24 Ranji Trophy season, Deshpande played a key role in Mumbai’s campaign, claiming 15 wickets in five matches as the team clinched their record-extending 43rd title. Despite his successful season, Deshpande remains uncertain about his availability for Mumbai’s upcoming away game against Vadodara, scheduled as part of the split-format Ranji Trophy 2024-25 season, which begins on October 11.
Deshpande’s absence will be a significant setback for Mumbai, but the pacer is focused on his recovery and looking forward to making a strong return to the field. His performance in recent domestic and franchise cricket has made him one of India’s exciting fast-bowling prospects, and his return will be eagerly anticipated by fans and selectors alike.
