Jos Buttler returns to England squad for white-ball tour of West Indies

England white-ball captain Jos Buttler has made his comeback to the team for the upcoming white-ball tour to West Indies as ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) announced their squad on Wednesday, October 02. Notably, Buttler missed the recent home ODI series against Australia a calf injury as youngster Harry Brook filled in his place to be England’s skipper.

However, he didn’t have a memorable beginning to his captaincy career as England lost the series by 2-3. Apart from Buttler, leg-spinner Jafer Chohan is another notable inclusion in the team as he has earned his maiden England call-up.

The 22-year-old has picked 22 wickets from 23 matches in his short career so far. Fast bowler John Turner and spin all rounder Dan Mousley are the only other uncapped players in the squad.

Turner, who was a part of the Caribbean tour last December as well, has picked 35 and 42 wickets in his List A and T20 career so far. On the other hand, Mousley was a part of the recent ODI series against Australia and has scored 1100 runs in his short T20 career so far and has also scalped 50 wickets from 63 matches.

ECB have named a 14-member squad for the tour as of now and two more members will be added to the team ahead of England’s third Test against Pakistan in Rawalpindi beginning from October 24.

England to play three ODIs and five T20Is

England will tour West Indies in the three-match ODI series followed by five T20Is. The ODI series begins from October 31 with the first two ODIs set to be played in Sir Vivian Richards Stadium, North Sound, Antigua while the third T20I will be held at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados.

The T20I series will begin from November 09 with the first two matches set to be played in Barbados while the remaining three matches will be hosted by Beausejour Stadium, Gros Islet, St Lucia.

England squad for West Indies tour: Jos Buttler (capt), Jofra Archer, Jacob Bethell, Jafer Chohan, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Liam Livingstone, Saqib Mahmood, Dan Mousley, Jamie Overton, Adil Rashid , Phil Salt, Reece Topley, John Turner
