Star India fast bowler Akash Deep visited Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday, October 2 after India’s thumping win over Bangladesh in the second Test at Green Park, Kanpur. India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets on Day 5 of the match even after two and a half days were washed out in the Test due to rain.
A day after India’s landmark win, Akash visited Ram temple and mentioned how it was his dream to visit the birthplace of lord Ram and seek his blessings. He also shared the divine experience of seeing the ‘Ram Lalla’ (child lord Rama) idol for the first time.
“It was a dream since long to have darshan of lord Ram, especially when this temple was built. I couldn’t come earlier due to matches but I saw videos of lord Ram. Today, when I got to see him up close, it didn’t feel like I was seeing him for the first time. It felt like I seem him every day as Lord Ram’s image has been forever etched in my memory ever since I saw the first videos of him residing in the temple,” Akash was quoted as saying by ANI.
Further speaking ahead, the fast bowler also mentioned that he prayed for the team’s success in future series.
“I have prayed that the way we are playing, we keep continuing that and take our nation to greater heights. The way we are dominating world cricket across all three formats inspires future generations to keep working hard for keeping the standard of our cricket high. Ever since my childhood, I’ve idolized Sachin sir (Sachin Tendulkar),” he added.
Akash Deep’s brilliant performance with the ball vs Bangladesh
Akash had a good series against Bangladesh as he picked five wickets from two Test matches at an average of 20.40 with best figures of 2/19. The speedster made his debut against England earlier this year in Ranchi and picked 3/83 in his first innings.
In three matches so far, Akash has picked eight wickets and will play a huge role for India in the upcoming series against New Zealand in the absence of senior bowler Mohammed Shami who continues to recover from his ankle injury.
