Former Australia cricketer Brad Haddin showered praise on India captain Rohit Sharma for his aggressive approach in the second Test against Bangladesh at Green Park, Kanpur. Notably, India managed to finish the match in just 173.2 overs in total after the game witnessed a washout of over two days.
After bundling out Bangladesh for 233 in the first innings, India came out with an all-out attack approach as they scored 285/9 in just 34.4 overs and took a 52-run lead. Applauding India’s remarkable effort, Haddin praised their brand of cricket led by captain Rohit Sharma.
“They gave themselves a chance to win the game. It wasn’t about how many runs I score, it’s about finding enough time to bowl Bangladesh out. They played a great brand of cricket, but it was all about giving them enough time. My hat goes off to support staff, Rohit Sharma… he has always been this sort of captain: Win first,” said Haddin on the LiSTNR podcast.
Later in the second innings, India bundled out Bangladesh for 146 and chased down the target of 95 in just 17.2 overs, wining the Test match by seven wickets. Further speaking ahead, Haddin said that India could possibly emulate their heroics later this year in the Test series against Australia as well if met with a similar situation.

“I actually do. Because if you look at this result… the worst result for India would’ve been a draw. There was no way India would’ve lost it. Rohit had nothing to lose. How good was it to watch! It’s a wonderful way to win Test cricket,” he added.
Following their victory, India continued their reign at the top of the World Test Championship (WTC) points table with eight wins from 11 matches having a points percentage of 74.24. They will next face New Zealand in a three-match Test series beginning from October 16. The Rohit Sharma-led side will further tour Australia for a five-match Test series beginning from November 22.
