Anil Kapoor’s commanding on-screen presence needs no special introduction. After entertaining audiences with his performances in the Netflix series The Night Manager, Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s film Animal, and the aerial actioner Fighter, he is set to appear in a new OTT project. The upcoming action drama titled Subedaar will be released on Prime Video, and the good news is that filming has already begun. The makers shared a picture on Instagram Wednesday to announce the filming. The snap features Anil Kapoor exhibiting an angry expression while firmly holding the hand of another person whose face was not revealed. “From the frontlines to the hometown – a fauji never backs down! Subedaar, Now Filming,” read the side note.
Congratulating Anil Kapoor, Anupam Kher commented “Go for it my friend (two hearts and a fire emoji)”. Bhumi Pednekar also reacted to the post by dropping a slew of raised hand emojis.
Back in March, Prime Video announced that Anil Kapoor will be playing the lead role in Subedaar. Anil Kapoor will be slipping into the shoes of Subedaar Arjun Singh in the film. In a post uploaded on Instagram by the OTT platform, the actor was seen sitting on a chair with a rifle in his hand. His intense avatar and cold stare are unmissable in the picture. The caption accompanying the post read, “In an adrenaline-fuelled action drama, Subedaar Arjun Singh grapples with civilian life, navigating a strained relationship with his daughter and societal dysfunction. The man who once fought for the nation must now fight enemies within to protect his home and family.”
Previously, Anil Kapoor talked about Subedaar and disclosed that he is “excited” for the film. The actor said, “I have done a lot of action films, but this is a pure action film, a dramatic action film. I’m excited about it,” in an interaction with Variety.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, Subedaar is bankrolled by Anil Kapoor, Suresh Triveni and Vikram Malhotra under the banners of Anil Kapoor Film & Communication Network Pvt. Ltd, Abundantia Entertainment and Opening Image. The script is penned by Suresh Triveni and Prajwal Chandrashekar.
