Despite his absence, Djokovic was recently seen practising on a tennis court, fuelling speculation about his recovery.
Carlos Alcaraz has set his sights on winning the Australian Open in 2025, aiming to complete the career Grand Slam. So far, only eight ATP players have achieved this prestigious milestone, all legends of the sport. In the 20th century, Fred Perry (1935), Don Budge (1938), Rod Laver (1962), Roy Emerson (1964), and Andre Agassi (1999) earned their place in history. The 21st century saw the dominance of the Big Three: Roger Federer (2009), Rafael Nadal (2010), and Novak Djokovic (2016).
“I have it in mind, I have in mind to get a tattoo of the kangaroo. I’m going to try to have a good holiday first. For me it’s super important to be able to disconnect from tennis. And to come back fresh for the pre-season so that it’s brilliant, brutal, to arrive in Australia in the best possible shape both tennis-wise, physically and mentally. The goal is to complete the ‘Grand Slam’ in Melbourne,” Alcaraz said in an interview with Marca.

If Alcaraz secures the Australian Open title, he would become the first next-generation player to accomplish this feat after the Big Three. True to his tradition, he plans to mark the achievement with a tattoo—this time, a kangaroo, which will symbolise his Australian triumph.
However, the road to victory won’t be easy. The ATP circuit is packed with top-tier talent, and Alcaraz will face stiff competition, particularly from defending champion and current World No. 1, Jannik Sinner. Known as one of the best hard court players in the world, Sinner will be a formidable opponent. To triumph in Melbourne, Alcaraz will need to bring his A-game and overcome the intense challenge posed by the reigning champion.
