India Reaffirms Peace, Declares “War Not Our Choice,” Says NSA Ajit Doval to China
Amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan, India has reiterated its commitment to peace and dialogue. In a crucial diplomatic exchange on Saturday, India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Doval held a telephonic conversation with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, where he underlined that “war is not India’s choice.”
This dialogue followed the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which resulted in serious casualties among Indian security forces. The attack has escalated tensions across the border, compelling India to launch counter-terrorism operations to neutralize threats.
🗣️ India Calls for Peace but Emphasizes Strong Counter-Terrorism Actions
During the call, NSA Doval informed Wang Yi that India had no interest in war and remains committed to restoring peace and upholding the ceasefire agreement with Pakistan. However, he made it clear that the Pahalgam terror strike was a grave provocation that warranted urgent and effective counter-terrorism measures.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry acknowledged Doval’s statements and highlighted China’s appreciation of India’s peace-first stance. Wang Yi condemned the attack and affirmed that China opposes terrorism in all forms.
“India and Pakistan must seek resolution through dialogue. Peace in the Asian region is a shared responsibility,” Wang Yi stated.
🚨 Pakistan Violates Ceasefire Again
Despite India’s diplomatic outreach and mutual agreement to de-escalate, Pakistan reportedly breached the ceasefire hours later. Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri addressed a late evening press briefing where he confirmed Pakistani forces violated terms agreed upon by the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMOs).
“This violation is unacceptable. Our armed forces are responding decisively,” Misri emphasized.
India’s Operation Sindoor, launched on May 7, targeted nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir (PoK) using precise strikes. In retaliation, Pakistan deployed drones, which were successfully intercepted by India’s defense systems.
🔎 Global Attention on South Asia’s Stability
The renewed conflict and strategic operations have pulled international focus toward the subcontinent. Experts believe that while India pursues peace, its defense posture remains uncompromising in the face of aggression.
📌 Additional Insight:
- Operation Sindoor marks one of India’s most calculated counter-terrorism operations in recent times.
- Drones used by Pakistan signal a new phase of asymmetric warfare, which India is countering with upgraded surveillance and interception tech.
- Diplomacy with China underscores India’s desire to maintain regional balance and discourage any third-party escalation.
