Harbhajan Singh is hoping that the ICC sanctions will bring an end to the ongoing Travis Head vs Mohammed Siraj row, which happened during the Adelaide. Tempers flared on Day 2 of the pink-ball Test as Siraj gave an animated send-off to Head after dismissing him for 140 in the first innings.
This would ignite some fire in the series as the crowd started booing Siraj for his actions. Both men would present their version of the story during the match, and it seemed like they had patched up while Siraj was batting in the second innings. However, both men were sanctioned by the ICC on Monday, December 9, with the Indian pacer being fined 20 percent of his match fees.
Speaking to Star Sports, Harbhajan started off by saying that the ICC was being too strict on the players as such things do happen on the field. The former spinner said that now since both men have patched up and been given sanctions by the ICC, it was time to end the matter and focus on the upcoming match at the Gabba.
“Well, I think ICC is a bit too strict on players. These things happen in the ground. Obviously, forget what has happened and move forward. The players have patched up and talked to each other. Anyways, ICC being ICC has sanctioned the players. Let’s put that aside now and let’s move forward which is obviously, Brisbane. Let’s focus on cricket rather than all these controversies. Enough is enough,” said Harbhajan.
Piyush Chawla would also weigh in on the matter and echoed the same comments as Harbhajan. While he admitted that things would heat up again in Brisbane, Chawla wanted the Head-Siraj feud to be left behind in Adelaide.
“You can’t really say who was wrong, who was right here. What I feel is that this should be the end of this thing right now. There’s no on this thing to the next match or the 4th test match, and just that what I feel personally is, the things will definitely get heated from the next Test match again, but what incident happened here, should leave it here in Adelaide,” said Chawla.
The third Test between Australia and India at the Gabba will begin on December 14.
