IPL auction: No Jofra Archer but James Anderson makes it to 574 player shortlist

The BCCI has announced the final list of 574 players who are all set to go under the hammer for the IPL 2025 mega auction. The players were filtered out from a total of registered players of 1574 to 574 for the auction. In the final list of players, a big surprise exclusion was England speedster Jofra Archer. While Archer’s name is absent, the 42-year-old James Anderson makes the cut with a base price of Rs 1.25 crore. Archer had registered for the IPL 2025 mega auction at a base price of Rs 2 crore, but could not make it to the final list.

The 10 franchises have a total of 204 slots to fill, with 70 of them for overseas players. The final IPL 2025 auction list also excludes Cameron Green, who had previously been part of a high-profile mega-trade deal between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians. The trade saw RCB secure the Australian all-rounder for a hefty sum of Rs 17 crore. However, Green is notably absent from the auction list due to his recent surgery to address a long-standing lower-back stress fracture.

Jofra Archer misses

The 28-year-old Archer has been hampered by a series of elbow and back injuries over the past few years, making it difficult to stay fit. But this summer, he managed to string together consistent performances in white-ball cricket – starting in May, through the T20 World Cup, The Hundred, and then the limited-overs series against Australia. The retired Anderson will be hoping to get picked in the auction and make his IPL debut at the age of 42.
