Netflix is now adding a way to share your favourite scenes from movies or TV shows with yours friends and family with the new ‘moments’ feature. The new feature will only be available on the Netflix mobile app and can currently be experienced by iOS users of the streaming service. Meanwhile, support for ‘Moments’ in Netflix Android app has been confirmed to come in weeks to come.
What is Netflix Moments?
Netflix Moments allows users to get the most out of iconic scenes from their favourite piece of content by bookmarking, saving it within the app and also providing the ability to share it with their friends. With clips from movies and TV shows already flying freely across social media, it seems like Netflix wants to get in the game itself and potentially bring more eyeballs on its content.
Netflix’s Giancarlo Esposito also talked about the need for Moments in a statement to Variety, he said, “I know firsthand there’s something magical that happens when a powerful story finds its audience on Netflix. Suddenly everyone is captivated and can’t stop talking about it, and that passion just keeps compounding.”
Netflix also hinted in another statement that this isn’t a one off feature and ‘more features’ will be added to Moments in order to make it easier for users to share their favourite content.
How does Moments work?
As per a blogpost by Netflix, there will be a new ‘Moments’ option when watching something on the streamer’s mobile application. This option will located just beside other options in the media player like playback speed, episode, audio and subtitles.
In order to save their favourite moment on Netflix, users will just have to slide down to the bottom of the screen and click on the Moments option.
