Protesting Delhi physicians treating patients outside of the health ministry in Kolkata following a rape-murder

For patients outside of Nirman Bhawan, resident physicians will be on call to provide elective outpatient clinic services in around 36 specialties, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and others.

In the midst of protests over the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor in Kolkata, the Resident Doctors Association (RDA) at the AIIMS Delhi on Monday will offer elective OPD services outside the Nirman Bhawan, which houses the Union health ministry.

According to a press statement from the RDA, on August 19 at 11 a.m., the doctors would begin a protest by offering OPD services on the road in front of Nirman Bhawan. According to the RDA, the physicians will treat patients in the best interests of the country and in accordance with their Hippocratic oath.

According to a statement from the AIIMS RDA, “resident doctors will be available for providing elective OPD services of around 36 specialties, including medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, and others to patients outside Nirman Bhawan.”
