Team India continued their tradition of announcing the Impact fielder of the match as well as the series. The official social media handle of the BCCI shared a special video of India’s fielding coach Subhadeep Ghosh announcing the best fielding award. Ravi Bishnoi was presented with the Impact field. The nominees for the fielding award for the whole series were TIlak Varma, Sanju Samson and Suryakumar Yadav. In a quirky fashion, the fielding coach asked Suryakumar to open the chit beside him and announce the winner.
Suryakumar Yadav went to Samson and shook his hands while announcing Tilak as the winner. Suryakumar’s gesture left everyone in the dressing room laughing. Team India coach VVS Laxman presented the medal to Tilak Varma. “I just want to say, as Rinku Singh says ‘God’s plan'” he said. “After last match, my body was feeling a bit weird. I really want to thank Nandan bhai and Tulsi sir,” Tilak added.
Tilak wins Impact fielder of the series
The 22-year-old had a brilliant series as he also won the Player of the Series award in the 4-match T20I series against South Africa.
India went on a record-breaking spree in the fourth and final match of the T20I series in South Africa, smashing their highest-ever team total away from home. Tilak Varma hit his second successive hundred (120) and Sanju Samson smashed his third hundred in five innings (109) as India finished with 283 for 1 in their quota of 20 overs.
23 sixes and 11 boundaries were hit as India batters sent South African bowlers on a leather hunt after winning the toss and opting to bat at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Friday, November 15. Tilak Varma and Sanju Samson scored 210 runs in just 86 balls for the second-wicket partnership as they went on a six-hitting spree in the series finale.
