Virat Kohli reveals his favourite hundred in Australia. It’s not Adelaide 2014

Star India batter Virat Kohli revealed his favourite Test hundred scored in Australia in a recent video shared by the BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India). Notably, Kohli has scored six out of his 29 Test centuries in Australia out of which four came on a single tour in 2014-15.

Kohli has often revealed his fondness for his twin centuries in Adelaide scored on his captaincy debut in 2014. However, while being put in a spot recently, he chose his Perth masterclass from 2018 to be his most favourite ton scored down under. Notably, Kohli scored 123 (257) in the second Test of the 2018-19 series on a tough track and was the lone centurion of the match across both teams.

However, his knock ended in vain as India lost the match by 146 runs as Australia levelled the series 1-1. Recalling his Perth knock, Kohli said that it was the toughest pitch he’s batted on in Test cricket.

“My best knock in Australia is definitely my hundred at Perth, 2018-19 series that we played. I thought that’s the toughest pitch that I’ve played on in Test cricket, it was great to have a hundred on that one,” said Kohli in a video shared by the BCCI.

Kohli’s stellar record in Australia

Kohli has a phenomenal record in Australia as he averages a staggering 54.08 having scored 1352 runs from 13 matches. The right-handed batter has scored six centuries and four half centuries in the country and was India’s highest run scorers on the 2011-12 and 2014-15 tours.

Kohli’s best-ever performance in a single series came against Australia during the 2014-15 tour where he plundered 692 runs from four matches at an average of 86.50 with four and registered four hundreds and one fifty.

He’s leveled with the legendary India batter Sachin Tendulkar in terms of most centuries by an Indian in Australia in Tests and will be eager to surpass him with another memorable show in the upcoming five-match rubber. Meanwhile, India are likely to be without their captain Rohit Sharma for the first Test in Perth beginning from November 22 as fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah is likely to fill in his shoes.
