Star India batter Virat Kohli was seen hugging head coach Gautam Gambhir after India’s win over Bangladesh in the second Test at Green Park, Kanpur on Tuesday, October 01. Notably, India beat Bangladesh by seven wickets to clinch the series by 2-0 as they chased down the target of 95 runs in the fourth innings.

Kohli (29*) and Rishabh Pant (4*) took the team home as Pant smashed a boundary against Taijul Islam down the ground. Following their win, there were happy faces in the Indian camp as everyone was seen congratulating each other for the victory. Among several moments of players shaking hands, a particular moment involving Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli caught everyone’s attention as the duo exchanged a warm hug as Kohli made his way back into pavilion.

The play resumed on Day 5 with Bangladesh on 26/2 after 11 overs trailing India by 26 runs with Shadman Islam (7*) and Mominul Haque (0*) at the crease. India struck early in the day as Ravichandran Ashwin dismissed Mominul for 2 to leave Bangladesh on 36/3.

Ravindra Jadeja sparked Bangladesh’s collapse

After three early wickets, captain Najmul Hossain Shanto joined Shadman Islam at the crease and the duo added 55 runs for the fourth wicket to bring a sense of calmness in the dressing room. However, the joy was short-lived as Ravindra Jadeja struck twice in two overs to dismiss Shanto (19) and Litton Das (1).

On the other hand, Akash Deep also dismissed the well-set Islam for 50 getting him caught at Gully. Jadeja (3/34) further accounted for Shakib Al Hasan catching him off his own bowling for a two-ball duck to leave Bangladesh staring down the barrel at 94/7.

Jasprit Bumrah (3/17) cleaned up the tail to bundle out Bangladesh for 146. In reply, India lost captain Rohit Sharma (8) early but Yashasvi Jaiswal continued from where he left off in the first innings. The southpaw hammered 51 off 45 balls with the help of eight fours and a six and got dismissed on the verge of victory.

After his dismissal on the score of 92, Pant and Kohli took India over the line. As a result, India won their 18th consecutive series victory on home soil.
