Women’s T20 World Cup Live Streaming: Squads, schedule and all you need to know

The much-awaited Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 is set to kick off on October 3 in the UAE, with hosts Bangladesh facing tournament debutants Scotland in the opening encounter. This ninth edition of the Women’s T20 World Cup will feature 10 teams, divided into two groups—Group A and Group B. The tournament will witness a total of 23 matches played over a span of 18 days, culminating in the final on October 20, where the new T20 World Champion will be crowned. Australia, India, and England have been touted as the tournament favourites, but the other teams will also look to make an impact and contend for the ultimate ICC title.

The heavyweights, Australia, will step onto the field as the defending champions under the leadership of Alyssa Healy. They will be aiming for their fourth consecutive Women’s T20 World Cup title, having already won it three times in a row. Meanwhile, the Indian women’s team will be eager to end their ICC title drought and secure their maiden trophy under the captaincy of Harmanpreet Kaur. Sri Lanka will come into the tournament with boosted confidence after their recent Asia Cup 2024 triumph, and Bangladesh will aim to make a mark as the host nation. England, on the other hand, will be determined to finally overcome the knockout stage hurdle, while the 2023 runners-up, South Africa, will have their eyes set on clinching the title this time around.

In a landmark move, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will have the same prize money as the men’s tournament. This is the first time in the history of international cricket that both a women’s and men’s event will be offering identical prize money. As per the decision, the winners of the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 will receive USD 2.34 million—a massive 134 percent increase from the USD 1 million awarded to Australia in the previous edition held in South Africa in 2023. This development is expected to set a new precedent for gender parity in international cricket and inspire other sporting bodies to follow suit.
